A long time ago I was sitting by a home
I didn't know what it was for, I didn't know why I was there
Seeds put in the lawn
Saw the flowers growing so I thought I'd tag along
I peeked through the door, it was vacant as could be
Until I saw my vines growing in it's
Windows, I knew this had startled me
If we laid on the floors in it's
Rooms, I'd let your thoughts consume me
Unlike the sidewalks paved that only saw what they wanted to see
If we laid in the backyard, and heard the cars in the streets
Thought maybe if you could see me in the
Dark, in the light I could finally see me
If we sat on the front porch, and could feel you surrounding me
Then for the first time I could feel your heart beating
You tell me: Sometimes at night the dark crawls through your windows
I tell you: You need to board them up
Because the dark that you're seeing is shadows
There are things in it's attic and there are things in it's basement
But the sign on the front lawn, it says to save him
Could you save him? Could you save her? Could you save them all?
Could you paint them? Could you paint them?
Could you repair them all?
Could you love it? Would you love it?
Could you love it at all?
